Sedimentary Environment and Model for Organic Matter Enrichment: Chang 7 Shale of Late Triassic Yanchang Formation, Southern Margin of Ordos Basin, China

Shale oil is an unconventional resource that needs to be developed and utilized urgently. However, the Chang 7 shale in Ordos Basin, as most typical continental source rock China, limited by study of organic matter (OM) enrichment factors lacustrine facies, there are still controversies about controlling factors, which limit progress gas exploration. This paper aims reconstruct paleoenvironment southern margin Basin reveal rich elemental analysis, X-ray diffraction (XRD) thin section observation, scanning electron microscopy-energy dispersive spectrometer (SEM-EDS) analysis. The results show during deposition period shale, climate was warm humid, lake water has strong reducing, low salinity rapid depth changes. Total carbon (TOC) positively correlated with hydrothermal action inversely proportional terrigenous input. high productivity, consumption dilution result OM Basin.
